ESHA History

Introduction

During the general board meeting in Kiev (May 2005) decision was taken to compose an ESHA book on the occasion of the 10th Biannual conference which will take place in Rome in the very beginning of November 2006.

The general board discussed more this item during the meeting in Helsinki (November 2005) and decided to add in the book a brief historical review of ESHA since the very beginning in November 1988.

Times changed but the basic aims of ESHA are still the same and it is good to look a moment back to the different activities organized during the last years.

It is not only a question to give information but by reading this review I am sure that many people involved in education will find on the next pages a nice souvenir to the activities they lived during the last two decennia.

Also this looking back in the young life of ESHA will bring honour to all the colleagues who gave on a voluntary base their contribution to reach the ESHA aims and still a big part of these school leaders are active in the executive and general board of ESHA Europe as well as in their national associations.

I am sure that ESHA will have a positive and long life in the next future and that we will help a lot through our projects to realize the integration of the European dimension and citizenship in the world of education.
